So the reason I started this blog is because I went to Disney yesterday. What did I go for? Pandora – The World of Avatar. And let me tell you, SWEET CHRISTMAS IS IT AMAZING. Now, you might be wondering, why did she start a blog just because she went to Pandora? Well, my husband can’t go until September and doesn’t want to talk about the land or Flight of Passage until he can experience it for himself. SO, here I am writing this so that I can get all this excitement and info out about this amazing land and ride. (Warning: kind of a spoilery type post)
I’ve heard all the hype and amazement for Pandora and Flight of Passage, but couldn’t really believe it until I saw and experienced it for myself. After today, I am amazed with what Disney accomplished and it just gets me so excited for the future.
Lets start with the land itself. Oh but wait, before I do, let me tell everyone that I have never seen Avatar and honestly probably never will, and I think it worked in my favor because I had 0 expectations. Back to it.
Walking into Pandora is like being transported into another world, which is how it should be. It’s (in my opinion) comparable to walking into Diagon over at Universal Studios Florida. I forgot I was in Animal Kingdom. The noises of the animals started to take over the music of the park and that’s when you see the ‘floating’ mountains. Holy crap guys, what a reveal! The landscape is so pretty and unique and neat and cool and I could go on and on. I have photos but it was gloomy today so they aren’t the best but I will share them anyway!
So.. as you can see even on a rainy day it still looks rather breath taking. After I explored a little bit I got in line for Flight of Passage which had 110 minute wait. I was by myself so at first I didn’t know if I wanted to wait almost two hours but I kind of just said “what the hell” and went for it anyway. And am I glad I did.
So the queue is pretty impressive. For starters it’s huge. I think it was made to hold up to a five hour wait which is insane. I didn’t take many pictures in there just because I was taking it all in but at one point they had the bio luminescent effect which I did capture. *Camera Noise*
If this is what the land looks like at night in person, I will be in awe. After this area you head into the lab in which had some pretty cool effects. The show stopper though, is the floating Avatar. This thing, holy s*** is it the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I still haven’t figured out if it is actually an animatronic but if it is, bravo Disney, bravo.
You have to see this thing in person. Pictures don’t do it justice.
After the lab, it’s basically time to ride. The pre ride video is a bit long but it’s still pretty cool. Then you have the actual ride. OMFG. I may have to agree with those saying that it might be the best ride in Orlando right now. I don’t remember the last time I have had a smile on my face the entire time riding something for the first time. The use of wind and water effects on this ride are the most accurate of any that exist right now and the effect of the Banshee breathing is legit awesome. The movements are so real feeling and the video is stunning. I wish it had a different ending because it just kind of, ends. But that isn’t something to complain about it is just something that I feel maybe could have been different? But it doesn’t make the ride any less amazing.
I haven’t gotten to River Journey yet but I have Fast Passes set for the future and will report back after I’ve gone on.
So that’s that. I literally started this blog to spew all this excitement, who knows what I will do with this outlet. Maybe review things? Just talk about my day? Go on adventures around Florida? I don’t want to limit it to just theme parks because there is just so much to do around here and it is all new to me. Hope you follow along!
